On the third day, when they were sore, two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and came against the city while it felt secure and killed all the males. They killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword and took Dinah out of Shechem’s house and went away. The sons of Jacob came upon the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.\u00a0 –Genesis 34:25-27<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Black Lives do matter, so let’s treat them to some Democracy.<\/p><\/div>\n

There are a few basic ways that humans can work out their differences.\u00a0 There is the old tribal way, we see illustrated here.\u00a0 In this scenario when someone wrongs your tribe, you kill the bastards.\u00a0 Then they reciprocate and the cycle continues.\u00a0 The other option is to talk things out.\u00a0 You establish a system of rules and you take votes and everyone agrees to follow the procedure.\u00a0 This is democracy.<\/p>\n

Christians have always been democratic, since the alternative is forbidden them.\u00a0 Since the council in Acts<\/a>, we have been working things out with talking.\u00a0 Though there have been bloody battles, they were battles for doctrine, Istanbul vs. Rome, Catholic vs. Protestant.\u00a0 I suppose a denomination is a kind of tribe.\u00a0 You see Paul condemning this sort of thing from the very early days.(I Corinthians 3:4<\/a>)\u00a0 And in large part we have gone beyond this tribalism, agreeing to disagree.\u00a0 This is the founding of America.\u00a0 Thirteen Colonial Denominations agreeing that they would rather unite against England than be destroyed.<\/p>\n

This is not the case with Muhammedans.\u00a0 To this day they still believe only in tribalism.\u00a0 Their false prophet claimed that God told him that their tribe would rule the world, because they were better than all the other tribes.\u00a0 And they have been trying to prove it for 1400 years.\u00a0 Sound familiar?\u00a0 It\u2019s so obviously a hack of the Judeo-Christian religion, it\u2019s not even funny.\u00a0 And it makes you wonder if tribalism wasn\u2019t one day an improvement.\u00a0 The story of the Old Testament is the story of God\u2019s chosen tribe and their stewarding of God\u2019s word and the fact that from them would come the Messiah.\u00a0 But the tribal distinction ends with him. (Matthew 10:34,35<\/a>)<\/p>\n

Which is why it\u2019s sad to see the streets filled with mobs demanding \u2018justice\u2019 for their tribe.\u00a0 They use their shouting and aggressive presence, whatever we let them get away with, to strong-arm their way, instead of talking it out.\u00a0 Let\u2019s say a police officer killed someone with absolutely no reason, he is a murderer.\u00a0 We have a system in place to deal with such a person.\u00a0 An investigation takes place, evidence is gathered and each side get\u2019s to present it\u2019s story before an elected\u00a0 or appointed judge who acts as referee.\u00a0 If found guilty he may be subjected to a penalty which the people have all agreed to through their elected representatives.\u00a0 But these mobs don\u2019t care about facts or justice, they spread propaganda\u00a0 and lies and try to get these people killed in the court of public opinion.\u00a0 They destroy people\u2019s lives because it suits their ends, because it\u2019s easier than following the rules of public order.\u00a0 It\u2019s easier than Democracy.<\/p>\n

When you go out on the street and start yelling and demanding your way, you are not for Democracy.\u00a0 You are a tribal thug attempting force and revenge.\u00a0 You, a small minority, are saying that the system is not capable of delivering justice.\u00a0 Despite the fact that it is far superior to every form of tribal justice.\u00a0 It really is much better than in most times and places.\u00a0 Yet you come waving your tribal banners.\u00a0 Now you may think this is what happened in the early days of the United States.\u00a0 We threw a fit and had a protest and we got our way and everything turned out.\u00a0 Except that\u2019s not what happened.\u00a0 This was no tribal dispute.\u00a0 It was Democracy vs. Democracy.\u00a0 It was a Constitutional Monarchy trying to assert dictatorial powers over Colonial Democracies.\u00a0 There were years and years of talking it out, between the crown and the colonies.\u00a0 But the King broke the rules that everyone had agreed to, so the colonies severed ties with him, with words.\u00a0 But he didn\u2019t like that, so he sent his soldiers in to invade their homeland.\u00a0 He was throwing a fit. In the end, our Democracy won.\u00a0 And we have proved ourselves by maintaining a better order on our own.<\/p>\n

This stands in stark contrast to these mobs today.\u00a0 Where is the proof that these people can govern themselves, much less their communities or counties or states?\u00a0 They don\u2019t change the process by the rules we have all agreed to. They don\u2019t suggest better rules.\u00a0 They don\u2019t let the process work.\u00a0 Of course there are problems, so replace them with more order, with a better rule, as the Founding Fathers did, don\u2019t come with your sticks and stones and your tribal revenge.\u00a0 You should be better than this.\u00a0 You were certainly exposed to better.\u00a0 But when you lose the argument you can accept it or you can throw a fit like a child.\u00a0 Which only proves you even more wrong.\u00a0 Occupy\u00a0 Wall Street wanted to rule the world but they couldn\u2019t even maintain basic sanitation in a city park, costing the responsible adults millions of dollars for their temper tantrum.\u00a0 If your way is so much better, prove it, leave a remarkable civilization in your wake instead of burning cars and buildings.<\/p>\n

The Old Testament improved on the tribal rules. \u00a0An eye for an eye was restraint. \u00a0When your sister is wronged you don’t kill an entire tribe, you can only take what was taken, a tooth for a tooth, life for life. \u00a0But ultimately the only way to resolve these conflicts is the Gospel. \u00a0Until we are at peace with Creator God, we can’t be at peace with our fellow man. \u00a0We European peoples are mostly not engaged in the Game of Thrones free-for-all. \u00a0But a lot of the world still needs \u00a0Jesus. Until they find him they continue to fight his children and each other. \u00a0 Jesus came to bridge the divide between each man and his God, each tribe and his God. \u00a0And as members of Christ, we are one in him. \u00a0It is the only way.<\/p>\n
